Exploring the Year of Mark

2015 is the year of Mark, the first of the gospels. Some say it is the "darkest" of the gospels -- over half of it is devoted to the last week of Jesus' life, his passion, death and burial, and it is the only one without an appearance by the risen Christ. These sessions - a combination of seminar-style presentation and bible study - will explore Mark's theology.

Why does Mark leave the resurrection out? Does Mark have anything distinctive or special to teach us about how to be disciples? From the earliest times, the Church has used the symbol of a lion to represent Mark; why?

Participants will reflect on these questions (and more!) together with the Diocesan Theologian, the Rev'd Canon Dr Tim Gaden.
