Petertide Appeal for Vocations Mon 17th of June

Dear Friends,

Do you ever wonder where our clergy come from?

Mainly they come from ordinary parishes, just like your parish. They are often young people, but sometimes they are mature folk who have never had an opportunity to pursue a clerical vocation. They are all people who long to serve Christ and his people.

Clergy need to be trained. Once there was just one way to be trained --‐ in a theological college. These days, students approach theology and pastoral studies online, by correspondence, in intensive courses based on campus and through traditional academic work. The variety is almost endless. But all the study is directed towards uncovering God's plans and purposes in individual lives and in the life of the Church.

Newly ordained clergy need ongoing support and opportunities to reflect on ministry so that they refine their practice. The Post Ordination Program helps our newly ordained Deacons and Priests to learn life long theological practice. By reflecting on ministry experiences together, by worshipping, preaching and celebrating the Eucharist as part of a small group of their peers, the Post Ordination Program people learn from each other and develop mutually supportive relationships.

All this work needs financial support. The Petertide Appeal is an opportunity for you to help share the burden of bringing new clergy to readiness for ministry. Please help them, so that they can help win the world for Christ.
