A multi cultural Ecumenical Church service to be held on Thursday 19th June 2014 at 5.30pm, followed by a light community meal at 6.30pm at Christ Church Cathedral, Lydiard St, Ballarat.

The guest speaker at Ballarat Anglican Cathedral Archdeacon Alan Nichols will call for nonracist language to be used in public debate on refugee issues.

He has been coordinator of multicultural ministry in Melbourne for the past 3 years, also worked in the field in refugee policy for the Jesuit Refugee Service in Myanmar-Thailand and in Africa and the Middle East for World Vision.

His experiences included being on the border of Rwanda in 1994 during the genocide and helping to set up a camp for 5000 refugees on the Bukavu Cathedral site.

We hope to have music, readings and prayers provided by people from different cultures and expect representatives from different faith communities attend the service. We would be very pleased if you would like to join with us to meet together to pray for those in countries where there is oppression and mistreatment for those who are trying to become refugees.
