NCLS 2006 is off and running!
The largest interchurch event in 2006 – National Church Life Survey 2006 – has begun.
A semi-trailer load of National Church Life Survey forms is being counted and posted to around 7000 local churches across 22 denominations.
The goal of NCLS 2006 is to help churches assess their health and build on their strengths.
Church attenders will take 20 minutes to share their views on church life. Churches in each state will take their turn between June and November.
"We've dispatched over 200,000 survey forms so far to Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia. Karen and the logistics staff are doing a fantastic job, as are our volunteers. I'm excited to see it all coming together so smoothly," said Kathy Jacka, NCLS Logistics Manager.
“I'm more excited about the opportunities this will be giving to churches. It's fantastic to speak to people all over Australia and get a snap shot of their world, and hear about their local area. Churches and communities all over Australia are going to be impacted…that's huge!”
“And so they know, with every Australia Post package that is sent, so is our prayer asking God to bless, strengthen and encourage each of our churches to have ‘life to the full’,” Kathy said.
Every church that takes part in NCLS 2006 will receive a Kit of results, containing a 28 page Church Life Profile containing their unique results, as well as other resources.
The timeline is as follows:
June = Uniting Church in Qld
July = Queensland
August = Northern Territory, South Australia & Western Australia
September = Australian Capital Territory & New South Wales
October = Tasmania, Victoria & a few small denominations
November = Uniting Churches (ex Qld)
