Welcome to the Diocese of Ballarat!

We are a diocese in the Anglican Church of Australia. For over 150 years now, we have been proclaiming the Gospel to the people of southern and western Victoria. I invite you to spend some time enjoying our story and exploring with us some of the great things God is doing in this part of His vineyard.

Who are we?

We are disciples (followers) of Jesus Christ, someone we believe to be the Divine Son of God who became a man to bring all men and women to life in God his Father.

We share our faith with other Christians in communities that are committed to living in the world so that all men and women can come to know and love God.

We are a part of God’s worldwide Anglican Communion and live out our faith under the authority of the Bible and in the light of the spiritual experiences and insights of Christians over more than two thousand years of Spirit guided history.

Why are we here?

To love, worship and obey God our Father.

To live as Jesus lived, love as he loved, to preach and teach as he taught us and to lead others into sharing life in him.

We believe that we are called by God to preach the Good News of God’s love and mercy to others.

Where are we going?

Anglicans in the diocese have been gathering in parish communities for more than 150 years and each generation of believers has added their own contemporary cultural elements to the shape and form of our Church. We in the diocese today take up that same challenge of making Christ known to people of our generation. We are a diocese responding to God’s call to renewal and in response to Him are working to build up a Church for the new millennium.
