Lord Teach Us How To Pray: A short guide to assist you as you learn to pray
This document is editable so that parishes can provide their own contact details and is designed to be provided at the entrances to churches or at information tables at parish events.
It could also be handed to those unable to attend church, and will be followed by a larger booklet later in the year.
Lord teach us to pray – A Prayer Resource
We come to know, understand and love people when we spend time with them – listening, talking, engaging, sometimes arguing, and sometimes sitting in silence. That’s what prayer is about – knowing, understanding and loving God. Feeling that God knows understands and loves each one of us.
This little book of prayers is a good starting point for prayer.
Every person prays differently and there is no right or wrong way to pray. Just try it and see what works for you. Sometimes the prayers of other people can help us focus our hearts and minds on prayer. Sometimes it’s silence or music or beauty that stimulates us to pray. Sometimes our anger or shock or sadness asks us to pray. Sometimes prayer is just “being” in a special place.
As the old NIKE shoe promotion used to say, Just do it!
